Setup is Friday 20th November, with the Party on Saturday 21st November at the St Clair Recreation Centre.

The aim of the Children's Christmas Party is to give more than 1,300 children from all over South Australia a day they will never forget. The children invited may have a serious illness, a physical or intellectual disability, or complex needs. The Party is not open to the public, children are invited personally through schools, charities and care providers.

We put on a completely free day including lunch, drinks, fruit, lollies, ice creams and chips, a three hour live stage show, face painting, rides, interactive displays and much more. And of course, Santa Claus! Each child receives at least three high quality presents. We've been organising the Party for over 30 years, and with your help we'll make this one of the best days ever for the children.

About Volunteering for the Party: 

• Your role for the day will be assigned prior to arrival.
• We encourage you to be flexible and use initiative, it's a busy and rewarding day.
• We plan every role around the volunteers who register, so if your plans change, please let us know as early as possible

Your responsibilities as a volunteer 

• Please wear your Christmas Party T-shirt and name badge, provided at sign-in, at all times.
• Sign in at the Volunteer Registration point between 8:30am and 9:30am using the check-in app or the sign-in sheet.
• Help us provide a safe, welcoming and happy environment for all of our guests.
• Report any incident, injury or hazard to a staff member straight away.
• Please do not take photos of the children. Official photographers will be on site.
• Wear sensible closed-in shoes (no thongs, sandals or high heels).
• Keep yourself hydrated throughout the day.
• If you smoke or vape, please do so in the designated area out of view of guests, and use the ashtrays provided.
• Avoid bringing valuables, as lockers aren't available.
• Please don't ask for leftover toys, these are donated to other organisations and hospitals.

Working With Children Check (WWCC)

We are committed to providing a safe environment for our invited guests. Because every child attends in the company of their parent or carer, volunteers are not legally required to hold a WWCC for this event. However, we strongly recommend it, and if you volunteer with children for more than 7 days in a year, South Australian law requires you to hold one.

VOLUNTEERING AT THE SETUP - NOW FULL

Friday, 20th November
St Clair Recreation Centre        

We require a number of volunteers to assist the day before the party with the following tasks:

Unpack, set up & display the children's gifts in the Toy Room.
Decoration of Toy Room.
Infrastructure Set Up - trestle tables, chairs, signage etc.
Unloading deliveries of food and other goods.

Sign in from 11am for an 11:30am start. Finishing time depends on volunteer numbers and tasks, but we aim to wrap up within 5 to 6 hours. Lunch is provided. Wear closed-in shoes, and feel free to bring gloves as we unpack a lot of toy boxes. Parking is free.
